DIGITIZING HERITAGE, REVIVING TOURISM

A credible first step. A lasting cultural purpose.

Monasteries of Sikkim — a focused 36-hour MVP for cultural exploration and preservation. Government of Sikkim · Travel & Tourism · Software.

01

Visibility plus preservation

The pitch identifies limited digital visibility, scattered visitor information, and knowledge decay as the problems to solve. The goal is to connect digital curiosity with thoughtful physical visits.

02

One focused MVP

Discover Rumtek and Pemayangtse, explore interactive 360° previews, learn through four hotspots per monastery, search standardized archive records, and plan a route in English or Hindi.

03

Simple, open architecture

React, TypeScript, Tailwind, Pannellum, and the app’s built-in key-value store. Structured JSON records can migrate to a government-managed system. No Firebase or Supabase is connected.

04

Proof, not promises

Hotspots link to archive stories. Two districts have real Google Maps route links. English and Hindi cover the core interface. Offline caching keeps previously visited screens available after a successful load.

05

Before presenting

Original high-resolution on-site panoramas, monastery-confirmed hours, and field-audited hotspot positions are still required. The under-3-second 4G target is an acceptance test, not a measured claim. The 1985 stupa date remains unverified.

06

Next, not now

Scale to more monasteries and invite verified community contributions. AR, professional local-language narration, and booking integration remain Phase 2 — not buttons pretending to work today.

Six phases. 36 hours.
